Civil Justice

America’s Civil Justice system gives ordinary citizens a fair chance to receive justice through the legal system.  It is a great equalizer where ordinary citizens can stand up to powerful special interests in order to seek justice.  The civil justice system helps keep Americans and New Jerseyans safe by allowing them a fair shake against those who have injured or wronged them.  Without the civil justice system asbestos could still be in our homes, tobacco companies could still market to children, and defective cars could still be on our roads.

In this current political climate, when corporations are viewed as people and the 1% controls the vast majority of wealth and power, it is important to celebrate and sustain the system which allows citizens to advocate for their rights.  Powerful special interests are working to limit access to the civil justice system in New Jersey.  Now more than ever, we must fight to preserve this important aspect of our legal lives.

The New Jersey Citizen Action Education Fund’s Campaign for Consumer Rights works to educate policymakers, the media and the public on the importance of ensuring that all New Jerseyans have access to this is important aspect of civil life not just in theory, but in practice.
